Joker Poker Strategy
Joker Poker adds a single wild joker to the deck instead of wild deuces, introducing two hands fixed-rank poker can't make — Five of a Kind and a Wild Royal Flush — while raising the minimum paying hand to a pair of kings. With only one wild card instead of four, wild hands are much rarer than in Deuces Wild, so the lone joker reshapes hands without the constant wild-card decision-load of a Deuces Wild game. On a dealt four-of-a-kind, the correct play is to hold the four and draw one card, discarding the fifth for a chance at the Joker completing Five of a Kind, which pays substantially more. Within the family, more payouts vary between paytables than in most other families: the natural Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, and Flush can all change, while Five of a Kind, Wild Royal Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, and the Kings-or-Better floor stay fixed.
